Elements of Dance
Open to all interested students. No prior experience necessary. Students may elect to take this course for one semester, as a full year course and over multiple years. This course will explore dance styles of ballet; modern, jazz, hip-hop and world dance forms. Students will be introduced to the Elements of Dance in relationship to dance composition; basic anatomical concepts; and an overview of dance in a historical and cultural perspective. This course will be of special importance to freshmen who are interested in auditioning for the Academy Dance Program or who want to pursue dance or theater arts for their future.
